The Challenge
As the company evolved, it became clear that their Cambridge, MA headquarters, which was spread across two buildings, would need to adapt as well. Requirements included not only a larger space that would bring employees together under one roof, but also a space that was better suited to the company’s unique approach to their market, including goals for improved connectivity and collaboration. Training areas for employees needed to be flexible in configuration and technology. Meeting spaces, from small to large, needed cutting-edge technology, yet still be easy-to-use and inviting. TRITECH was selected through a competitive bid process and joined the team designing and building the new facility. Vanderweil Engineers, who led the technology design, provided the vision that TRITECH’s project team set about bringing to life. One of the most interesting yet challenging requirements was creating a training space large enough to occasionally accommodate hundreds of people in one gathering while being able to transform into a more typical meeting space for day-to-day needs. Another requirement was providing meeting planners and employees with a simple, yet powerful method of booking the more than 150 available collaboration and meeting spaces, spread over 10 floors.
The Solutions
Multiple collaboration and meeting spaces of various sizes were provided throughout the space including a 5-way divisible multi-purpose room that can function as one, large gathering space when combined with the Café for large, company-wide occasions. Each space features presentation and collaboration technology which can be controlled locally or from the AV Control room. The Control room allows technicians to setup and control large events, including situations that involve multiple setups and/or presenters. Custom remote control and audio system programming was provided by TRITECH.
A background music system in all public spaces was also provided in addition to the extensive room scheduling system. TRITECH installed more than 208 Logitech TAP scheduling panels which give planners and users the ability to reserve a room and amenities through the company’s workplace management system.
The Outcome
The new HQ facility was completed on schedule and within budget due in part to suggestions offered by TRITECH that resulted in greater efficiencies. Outstanding cooperation between trades, designers, owner’s reps and other members of the overall design and construction teams each contributed to the project’s success. TRITECH is proud to have been part of that team.
